Born from the restoration of a castle
Borgo Braila rises from the careful restoration of an ancient borgo near Piegaro — a historic hamlet first recorded in 1191, set among the olive groves and gentle hills at the heart of Umbria.
Room by room, the castle is being brought back to life. Walls in natural tones, terracotta floors and ceilings with exposed wooden beams carry the authentic charm of the Umbrian–Tuscan tradition, while handcrafted mango-wood furniture and quiet contemporary comfort make each apartment a place to truly settle in.
At its heart, a newly restored 18 × 7 m panoramic pool — clad in Tivoli travertine — looks out over the valley, reached by a wood-and-stone staircase that winds down among the olive trees.
The project is still unfolding: gardens and further apartments are being restored with the same care, far from mass tourism — an invitation to experience Umbria slowly, as it once was.
